When working out is not really working out. What's that mean? Ever hear someone say, "I got my workout in today."
Really? You did? How many calories did you burn? How hard did you work?
There is a huge misconception in this country that going to the "gym" is working out. The success of a workout or workout program is primarily determined by the intensity of the session. Don't get me wrong, you don't have to "kill" yourself to be in great shape. However, walking on the treadmill at a slow pace for 30 minutes and then saying "I got my workout in" is the same thing as saying, "I chewed gum all day and got my workout in."
The next time you leave the gym, ask yourself:
Is my heart rate up?
Am I even sweating?
Could I have went harder?
Just a thought, see you next time.
